DIY Hot Sauce

Recipe By: Cultivating Roots
🌮 Fun Fact: Hot sauce dates back over 6,000 years! Ancient civilizations like the Aztecs mixed chili peppers with water—creating the OG fiery condiment we still crave today. 🔥

🌶️ What You’ll Need

10–12 hot peppers (jalapeño, serrano, cayenne, or your favorite fiery mix)
1 medium tomato, chopped
½ medium onion, chopped
4–5 garlic cloves
2 cups filtered water
2½ tsp fine sea salt (~3% brine)

🔥 How to Bring the Heat:

1️⃣ Toss your peppers, tomato, onion, and garlic into a clean quart jar.

2️⃣ Dissolve salt in water to make your brine and pour it over until everything’s fully submerged (no air bubbles, no drama).

3️⃣ Add a Pickle Pebble on top, seal it up with a Pickle Pipe and Tough Band, and let science do its thing.

4️⃣ Ferment at room temp (65–75°F) for 7️⃣–1️⃣4️⃣ days. The longer you wait, the deeper the flavor.

5️⃣ When it’s tasting just right, strain and blend until smooth. Add a splash of brine for that perfect pour. Store it in the fridge and drizzle on everything.

💥 Taco Tuesday Pro Tip:
Want it extra fuego? Skip the tomato and go all-in on peppers.
Craving something milder? Add a few sweet ones to chill the vibe.
