Tostadas de Carne Molida
🌮 Recipe By: Maria | Pizquita de Sal | Mexican Recipes
✨Fun Fact: Tostadas began as a clever way to revive stale tortillas, frying them crisp and piling on bold toppings, turning humble leftovers into one of Mexico’s most beloved street foods.

What You’ll Need 🌶️✨🔥
1 jalapeño
1 onion
3 garlic cloves
1 Serrano pepper
4 tomatoes
1 Chile Morita (optional, but it adds the best flavor)
1 teaspoon salt (for the salsa)
1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
1/4 teaspoon oregano
1.5 lbs ground beef (85/15 or whatever you like)
2 potatoes, peeled and diced
1/2 cup water (to blend the salsa)
Oil (for frying)
Store-bought or homemade tostadas
Refried beans
Lettuce (shredded)
Queso fresco (crumbled)
Mexican crema
How To Make The Magic 🔥
1️⃣ Roast the flavor bombs
Preheat that comal or griddle and line it with foil.
Throw on the jalapeño, onion, garlic, Serrano, and tomatoes and roast until everything’s charred, blistered, and smelling like the neighbors are about to “stop by.”
2️⃣ Blend the magic
Slide the roasted crew into a blender.
Add the Chile Morita if you’re feeling spicy, plus salt, cumin, and oregano.
Blend until smooth… or pulse it chunky if you like your salsa with attitude. Set aside.
3️⃣ Brown the beef
Heat a splash of oil in a pan over medium.
Add the ground beef, break it up, and cook until deeply browned and taco-night worthy.
Season with salt like you mean it.
4️⃣ Bring it all together
Stir in the diced potatoes, then pour in that glorious salsa.
Add ½ cup water to the blender, swirl the last drops free, and pour it in. No salsa left behind.
Cover and simmer on medium-low about 15 minutes, until potatoes are tender and the sauce hugs everything tight.
5️⃣ Fry the crunch
Heat oil in a pan and fry tortillas until golden, crispy, and impossible to eat quietly.
About 1 minute per side, then let them drain.
6️⃣ Build the tostada tower
Spread refried beans, pile on the beef-potato goodness, then shower with shredded lettuce, queso fresco, and Mexican crema.
Take a bite.
Hear the crunch.
Forget your responsibilities for a minute. 🌮
