🌶️ What You'll Need
2 lb ground turkey
Cooking oil of choice, for sautéing
½ small red onion, finely diced
3 garlic cloves, minced
1 (10 oz) can Rotel diced tomatoes and green chilies
2 cups water
1 tsp Better Than Bouillon beef base
2 packets taco seasoning (Cholula is our fave)
Chili powder, to taste
Ground cumin, to taste
Dried oregano, to taste
Garlic powder, to taste
Onion powder, to taste
Salt and black pepper, to taste
🌮 Taco Tuesday Tip: Season with your heart, but go easy on the salt. Between the taco seasoning and bouillon, there's already plenty of flavor happening.
🔥 Step By Step
1️⃣ Start With The Flavor
Heat a little oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the diced red onion and your dry seasonings. Sauté until the onion softens and everything smells incredible.
2️⃣ Bring In The Garlic
Add the minced garlic and sauté for another 30 seconds to 1 minute, just until fragrant.
3️⃣ Brown That Turkey
Add the ground turkey and cook, breaking it apart as it browns.
4️⃣ Make It Saucy
Stir in the taco seasoning packets, Rotel, beef bouillon, water, and any remaining seasonings. Mix well, bring to a simmer, cover, and cook over medium-low heat for 10 minutes.
5️⃣ Let The Flavor Concentrate
Remove the lid and increase the heat to medium or medium-high. Let the excess liquid cook off until the turkey is thick, juicy, and perfectly coated in all that seasoning. Make sure the ground turkey reaches 165°F.
And just like that, your taco-night MVP is ready.
🌮 One Batch. So Many Ways To Eat It.
🌮 Classic Tacos
Pile the turkey into warm tortillas. Add shredded lettuce, cheese, salsa, and a squeeze of lime. Taco Tuesday: handled.
🌯 Loaded Burritos
Wrap it up with rice, beans, shredded cheese, and your favorite salsa. Bonus points for crisping the burrito in a skillet.
🍕 Mexican Pizzas
Layer crispy tortillas with refried beans, seasoned turkey, and plenty of cheese. Heat until melted, then finish with tomatoes, sour cream, and hot sauce.
🧀 Next-Level Nachos
Spread tortilla chips on a sheet pan, load them with turkey and cheese, and broil until melty. Add jalapeños, guacamole, and all the good stuff.
🥑 Taco Bowls & Beyond
Spoon it over rice with avocado, lettuce, and salsa. Or roll it into enchiladas, stuff it into quesadillas, or save it for your next taco salad.
🌶️ The Bottom Line
One skillet. Two pounds of ground turkey. A whole lot of dinner possibilities.
Make the filling, keep it in the fridge, and you've got a head start on whatever Mexican-inspired craving hits next.
Tacos are just the beginning, fam. 🔥
