What You’ll Need
1 lb ground beef
1 oz packet low-sodium taco seasoning
1/4 cup salsa
1/4 cup water
13.8 oz tube refrigerated pizza crust
1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
1 egg
1 tbsp water
Optional toppings: sour cream, taco sauce, lettuce, avocado or whatever taco night demands
Step By Step
1️⃣ Build The Taco Filling
Heat the oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet with parchment. Brown the ground beef in a skillet, then drain well. Stir in the taco seasoning, salsa and 1/4 cup water. Cook until thickened and bubbly, then remove from the heat.
2️⃣ Set Up The Braid
Unroll the pizza dough onto the prepared baking sheet and press it into a rectangle. Sprinkle 1 cup of the cheddar down the center.
3️⃣ Load It Up
Spoon the taco meat over the cheese, then finish with the remaining cheddar.
4️⃣ Braid It
Cut each long side of the dough into roughly 12 strips. Fold them diagonally over the filling, alternating sides until the taco filling is tucked inside.
5️⃣ Make It Golden
Whisk the egg with 1 tablespoon water and brush it over the dough. Bake for 22–25 minutes, until the braid is deeply golden and cooked through.
6️⃣ Slice + Taco
Let it settle briefly, slice it up and serve warm with your favorite taco toppings.
7️⃣
Tortilla? Optional. Taco energy? Very much intact.
